Novak Djokovic beats Del Potro, wins Shanghai Masters

Novak Djokovic has done it again.

On Sunday, the Serb won the finals of the Shanghai Masters against Juan Martin Del Potro. He won it in three sets: 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(3).

The Serb completed a back-to-back sweep of titles at the China Open in Beijing and the Shanghai Masters for the second straight year.

He’s now earned seven titles overall in China — the most he’s won in any country.

Novak Djokovic playing in China is like Roger Federer playing in Wimbledon from 2003-2008, he knows how to get the titles. Djokovic is playing with such promise as of now, winning championship after championship and showing the world that he’s one of the best.

During the tournament, Djokovic lost his number 1 world ranking to Rafael Nadal, who fell to Del Potro in the semifinals. Ever since then, he was on a mission to win, and that’s exactly what he did.

Considering the rankings, I put myself in a better position right now with back-to-back wins,” the six-time Grand Slam winner said. “But the fact that if I would win, I would put myself in a better position, did not affect my motivation. My motivation is there always, especially when I’m playing finals of such a big event.

With the ATP World Tour Finals coming up, Novak is trying everything he can to finish the year strong; so far he’s doing a good job.
