Your Pac-12 top performers from week seven

The seventh week of the 2013 college football season was another exciting one in the Pac-12. Here’s a look at this week’s recipients of the very prestigious FanSided Pac-12 Top Performers Award (colloquially the FSPTPA).

1) Marcus Mariota

The Washington Huskies fought admirably against the Oregon Ducks, but Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota turned in another remarkable performance and led his team to a 45-24 win on the road. Mariota, as per usual, filled the box score. He completed 24 of his 31 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns, and he also accounted for 88 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Mariota better start packing his bags for New York now.

2) Rashaad Reynolds

Sean Mannion will be getting all the headlines today, and deservedly so, but Oregon State Beavers cornerback Rashaad Reynolds also played great in OSU’s wild 52-24 win over the Washington State Cougars. Reynolds was key in keeping WSU’s Air Raid offense from taking flight, grabbing two interceptions and forcing two fumbles. He also recorded six tackles.

3) Travis Wilson

While the Utah defenses deserves a lot of the credit in helping the Utes upset the Stanford Cardinal, Utah quarterback Travis Wilson gets the nod here. Wilson did throw an interception, yes, but he also threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and he added 35 yards on the ground. Wilson is quietly putting together a great 2013, and both of Utah’s losses on the season have come by a combined total of ten points. Although they’re near the bottom of the Pac-12 South now, I’d advise keeping an eye on Utah from here on out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them knock off a couple more favored teams.
