Things have not gone well for the Arkansas Razorbacks lately.
After getting off to a 3-0 start with wins over the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, the Samford Bulldogs and Southern Miss Golden Eagles, the Razorbacks have dropped four straight games. The Razorbacks proved the weren’t ready for a step up in competition, losing to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, the Texas A&M Aggies, the Florida Gators and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The games have also been increasingly lopsided, culminating in a 52-7 home loss to the Gamecocks Saturday.
The 45-point lost might not even be the worst thing that happened to Bret Bielema’s squad Saturday. On Monday, the Razorbacks announced that senior defensive tackle Robert Thomas underwent surgery to repair the left leg that he broke in Saturday’s game, on Sunday night.
The 6’3, 325 lb. Muskogee, Oklahoma native had 31 tackles, six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks so far this season.
Losing arguably your best defensive lineman is tough, especially when your next game is against the top-ranked, two-time defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide. The Razorbacks and Tide will kick off at 7:00 pm EST Saturday.
