Florida Loses RB Matt Jones for Season

Florida running back Matt Jones had to have surgery to repair a torn meniscus and according to head coach Will Muschamp, will miss the rest of the season.  The injury was suffered in Florida’s loss on Saturday to LSU.  Jones had 79 carries for 339 yards this season.  This is not the first medical issue Jones has had this season as he missed most of fall practice with a viral infection.

Jones had a pair of fumbles in the Gators first two games that promoted Muschamp to question the decision to have him as their lead back.  Jones went out and had a big day, running for 176 yards against Kentucky working to solidify the position.  With this injury, the Gators have their leading rusher, Mack Brown, who has 340 yards and 3 touchdowns as well as freshman Kelvin Taylor.

The Gators are currently 4-2 and their schedule does not get easier.  They have to take on Missouri this week, although they are down their starting quarterback, followed Georgia and then Vanderbilt.  They have a get well game against Georgia Southern before hosting the Seminoles in the regular season finale.
