In a way, I can’t help but feel bad for Miami Heat center Greg Oden. Sure, he’s a multimillionaire, but the guy seemingly loves the game and nearly had it taken from him due to his shaky knees.
Thankfully Oden, after intense rehab, was able to secure another NBA contract and should finally get back on the court this season. And while it won’t be for significant minutes, some is better than none.
That’s apparently how the Miami Heat training staff feel as well as they’ve been taking every possible precaution with Oden since he signed, which includes measuring his knees after every practice:
The recovery during off days and between workouts for Oden have been just as vital as any of the strides he’s made on the court. Oden said trainers measure the size of his knees before and after each workout to gauge for any swelling. If the results are acceptable, the training staff clears Oden for the next day — and next phase — of work.
Oden was recently seen dunking during Heat practice, so it appears he’s slowly but surly getting healthier by the day.
