Minnesota Wild Recall Goaltender Darcy Kuemper from AHL

The National Hockey League is reporting today that the Minnesota Wild have recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the AHL.

This is the second time in four days that they have made the call for Kuemper to join the main roster.

The first was on October 10th when he was asked to serve as backup to Wild goaltender Josh Harding during the Stars’ 5-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

With the Wild’s starting goaltender Niklas Backstrom not quite ready to make his return to the ice from his current knee strain, it was necessary to call on Kuemper again to return to the Wild bench.

So far this season, Harding is 2-1-0 and has a Goals Allowed Average of 1.07 as well as a Save Percentage of .944. With the AHL’s Iowa Wild this season, Kuemper has only made 1 appearance. In that time, he has a GAA of 4.12 and a Save Percentage of .875.

Tonight, the Minnesota Wild head to the First Niagara Center in Buffalo to go head-to-head with the Buffalo Sabres, who still have yet to find a win this season.

According to the Minnesota Wild, Harding will start in net tonight. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
