The Missouri Tigers are undefeated at this point at 6-0, but they lost their quarterback James Franklin to a separated shoulder. According to head coach Gary Pinkel, Franklin will be out 3-5 weeks as he recovers from the injury. That means the Tigers will be using Maty Mauk over that period and he will be facing at least Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. If Franklin cannot get back in that time, Mauk also has to play Kentucky and Ole Miss. It does set up that Franklin should be ready to go in time for the regular season finale when the Tigers host Texas A&M.
Missouri has had a pretty soft schedule up until this past week when they made a big statement against Georgia. It remains to be seen if that was a fluke or if that was just how good Missouri can be. Their next several games will be extremely difficult, especially as they are forced to go with their backup quarterback. If they do end up losing a few games, the finale against Johnny Manziel and the Aggies sets up as an interesting matchup and potential upset for Missouri with Franklin back under center. Franklin leading the Missouri has been able to put up a ton of points and as a result, they tend to be able to stay in games with anyone.
