We told you that the Jazz were interested in trading for Bulls’ point guard Marquis Teague after Trey Burke broke his finger. Well, it seems as if they trade might happen. Originally, Burke’s father said that he will miss 3-6 weeks, but now that he has had surgery, it looks worse, according to Jody Genessey of the Deseret News:
Trey Burke needs pins in his fractured index finger. He will be out 8-12 weeks after surgery, per his agent.

Burke has been unimpressive for the first part of his career, and I’m not too high on him. Utah is in a rebuilding mode anyways, but it is important for Burke to get out there and work through his struggles. It seems like we may not see Burke’s regular season debut until January or worse. This isn’t good news for the Jazz, and they will have to seek out a possible trade.
Burke is an undersized point guard who has been over his head since Summer League, but with some reps, he could improve. With him spending more time on rehab than on the court, this could also halt his development. The Jazz are a young team that needs a good point guard who can get easy buckets for Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter, and I don’t think John Lucas is that guy. Many outlets were picking Burke for the Rookie of the Year Award, but I think that will go to Victor Oladipo of the Magic.
