This game could have an impact on the World Cup standings with an incredible amount of goals from Azerbaijan. I don’t think Russia will allow that to happen, they’ve only allowed 4 goals so far in group play. This game is just a formality and a chance for some younger less experienced Russian players to possibly get some experience and playing time.
Azerbaijan is simply playing for pride and the home fans. They sit in fourth place in the table, far behind the leaders, with 8 points in group play. Not a terrible showing, but not enough.
