ESPN vs FOX Sports 1 (Infographic)

The World Wide Leader, ESPN, has some competition on top of the sports entertainment universe. Fox Sports launched their rebranded Fox Sports 1 network in August. Fox Sports 1 is looking to put a dent in ESPN’s strangle hold on sports entertainment on cable television, and quite possibly steal the market away.

So far, Fox Sports has failed to put a dent in the ESPN market. According to Business Insider, “the channel is averaging 238,000 viewers in primetime, nearly 10 times less than ESPN’s 2.03 million.”

Fox Sports wasn’t expecting to or looking to make a dent in ESPN’s control right away. They plan on using their vast wealth and resources to try to outbid ESPN on live-sports rights in the future. Fox Sports 1 is thinking long-term, not short-term. The incredible amount of money and resources they have at their disposal is why they’re considered to be a legitimate threat to ESPN. Not their current shows and formats.

Get it Bill Simmons?

So consider this infographic below as a ‘tale of the tape’ or two boxers weighing in. It basically measures up the two giants before their ultimate show down by comparing their history and resources.
