Injuries are sadly a part of football, and while they often leave NFL teams without players who they were counting on to be significant contributors, it opens up opportunities for other players to show what they’re made of, and that’s also true in fantasy football.
One name to keep note of is New York Jets running back Chris Ivory. If you’ve followed fantasy football closely, you’d know he was projected as a high draft pick prior to the season, but injuries and inconsistent play have left many owners dropping him, causing him to be available in many leagues.
With news that the Jets lost Mike Goodson for the year to a torn ACL, coupled with Bilal Powell suffering a shoulfder injur during Sunday’s 19-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ivory figures to be the lone challenger to Powell for carries.
Ivory is clearly superior to Powell, and once he’s healthy and getting on the field consistently, the coaches will see that and make him the feature back. He’s worth a pickup if he’s sitting on the waiver wire in your league, and could eventually become a solid RB-2.
