The Florida Gators are reeling after a smackdown at the hands of LSU and it just went from bad to worse. Starting running back Matt Jones had to have knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.

It is a big blow for a team already devastated by season ending injuries to two of their premier starters, quarterback Jeff Driskell, defensive tackle Dominique Easley and others; those others include starting right tackle Chaz Green (labrum), backup receiver/kick returner Andre Debose(knee), freshman linebacker Matt Rolin (knee) and freshman defensive back Nick Washington (shoulder).

Coach Will Muschamp called the injury “very unfortunate for a young man, with all the time and effort they put into it”.

Florida is preparing for the 14th ranked Missouri Tigers this weekend and will do so with redshirt junior Mack Brown and freshman Kelvin Taylor.

Taylor is the son of former NFL running back Fred Taylor, and carried 10 times for a total of 52 yards against LSU this past weekend. Brown was the starter for awhile but has had issues with ball security and ultimately had been replaced by Jones in the starting lineup. Brown has rushed for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns this season.
