This is a CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match between Jamaica and Honduras. Jamaica has already been eliminated from contention for a World Cup berth. Honduras sits in third place with 14 points. A win guarantees or draw punches Honduras’ ticket to Brazil. If they lose, Mexico (11 pts) could catch them if they win, depending of course on the goal totals of both games.
Jamaica doesn’t seem to be much of a challenge. They haven’t won a game in the fourth round of CONCACAF qualifying. It’d be hard to imagine them pulling out a win here, even with the game being at home. Of course, playing at home and it being the final game they could be looking to put a show on for their fans and could shock Honduras.
There sometimes is a motivating factor in having the opportunity to ruin someone else’s chances.
