The North Carolina State Wolfpack announced on Tuesday that safety Jarvis Byrd, a redshirt senior who you may remember from this unfortunate incident, will miss the rest of the 2013 season with a torn ACL. Byrd first tore his ACL as a true freshman in 2009. He sat out the entire 2010 season has he recovered from the injury, but he then tore his ACL again before the 2011 season began.
North Carolina State coach Dave Doeren released the following statement about Byrd:
Jarvis is a true champion. This team and staff love him as a brother and respect him as a leader. It is so unfortunate that a player like Jarvis, who has been through two other ACL surgeries, has to endure another. I know that he will have a tremendous attitude and will use all the support available to him to have a healthy recovery (ESPN).
Byrd, a team captain, had recorded 18 tackles in the 2013 season. We wish him the best in his recovery.
