Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze announced Monday that freshman defensive end Robert Nkemdiche will not play in the team’s upcoming game against the No. 6 LSU Tigers due to a pulling his hamstring in the fourth quarter of last week’s game against Texas A&M. Nkemdiche is expected to also miss the Rebels’ games against the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Idaho Vandals.
Nkemdiche, who was considered the top prospect in the nation for the class of 2013, has started every game this season for the Rebels, splitting time between defensive end and defensive tackle. He’s recorded 15 tackles and four tackles for loss.
Unfortunately for Ole Miss, Nkemdiche isn’t the only injured defensive player. Linebacker Serderius Bryant, safety Chief Brown, cornerback Mike Hilton, and defensive tackle Issac Gross are all dealing with injury problems, too. That doesn’t bode well for going up against an LSU offense that is 465.7 yards and 41.4 points per game.
Coverage of the game between LSU and Ole Miss will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN2.
