The United States Men’s National Team has already punched their ticket to the World Cup in Brazil. The USMNT dropped midfielders Landon Donovan and Jermaine Jones from the roster for the World Cup qualifier in Panama because of injuries.
“Landon is still struggling with the ankle injury from a couple weeks ago, so he will go back to Los Angeles and try to get back to 100 percent,” U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann said, via ESPN FC. “Jermaine’s case is more of a concern. His knee was bothering him all night but he battled through. It’s clear that the issue with his knee is something that should be taken care of right away so he can be 100 percent for Schalke and the national team as soon as possible.”
The USMNT allowed goalkeeper Tim Howard and defender Matt Besler to return to their clubs as well. That means Brad Guzan will get the start between the pipes for the USMNT.
The USMNT won’t be their ideal starting XI since their berth is locked up.
