Utah Jazz's Trey Burke says he will only be out 4-6 weeks, not 8-12

When Utah Jazz rookie Trey Burke went down with a finger injury this past weekend, there was optimism that he would only miss a few weeks of action. That optimism quickly turned to disappointment as Burke would be forced to undergo surgery on his ring finger and would likely be out of action for 8-12 weeks, at least according to initial reports.

Burke himself though says that’s not true and that he’ll only miss 4-6 weeks, despite undergoing surgery:

8-12 weeks is very unreasonable people and idk who made that up. I appreciate the support and prayers but 4-6 weeks is more likely. Thanks

The 8-12 week recovery time seemed a bit excessive at first, but considering it came from Burke’s agent (or so we were told) it seemed legit.

Assuming Burke’s own prognosis is correct, a 4-6 week recovery time frame puts him back on the court either around the last week or so of November or early December, much better than the January/February return time he was originally looking at.
