Invicta FC fans won’t have to wait too much longer for the return of Scottish Striking Sensation Joanne Calderwood’s return to the Invicta cage.
Calderwood is scheduled to face Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpaa at Invicta FC 7, Dec. 7.
Both fighters have unblemished records, Calderwood being 7-0 while Kankaanpaa sports an 8-0 record with one no contest against Simona Soukupova.
Calderwood is coming off a win over Norma Center. Although she excels as a striker, Calderwood showed improvements in her grappling, which could be a good match against Kankaanpaa’s wrestling.
If the Killer Bunny wants to win this match, she may want to keep the fight on the ground. Calderwood dangerous striking, especially when she gets in close and blasts her opponents. Still, Kankaanpaa has gone the distance five times and has to be finished, so she could have a durable chin on her.
It is great to see two international WMMA fighters brings their talent to the United States. Although it is sometimes a risk for promoters to put two fighters from overseas against each other on a card, because American fans may not be familiar with them, both Calderwood and Kankaanpaa have previously fought in front of Invicta FC fans, many of whom follow women’s MMA beyond the United States.
If Calderwood can get a win over Kankaanpaa, she could be one step closer at a shot at the Invicta FC Strawweight championship.
