Carmelo Anthony says just because he wants to be free agent, doesn't mean he wants to leave Knicks

Yesterday, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony made waves when he told media members that he wanted to be a free agent. Today, Melo is changing his tune a bit, suggesting that while he does want to become a free agent, that doesn’t mean he wants to leave New York.

Per Ian Begley of ESPN New York:

Carmelo: Just because I want to be an FA doesn’t mean I want to leave the

Carmelo: “At the end of the day I don’t want to go anywhere, but when the times comes, I’ll deal with (the free agency process).”

So, let me get this straight. Melo wants to enjoy the process of free agency, essentially be courted by teams he has no intention to sign with?

Carmelo is of course free to do as he wishes, but if you’re going to enter free agency (which again, is his right), aren’t you doing it with the intentions of actually potentially signing elsewhere? Otherwise, you’re just wasting everybody’s time and money.
