Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose is ready to return this season after missing all of last year as he recovered from a torn ACL, but the upcoming NBA season isn’t the only thing on his mind.

During a recent media session, Rose made it clear that he has interest in playing for the USA basketball team and that he’d love to be a part of the 2016 Olympic squad.

“For sure, I would love to play on the team,” said Rose, via CSNChicago.com. “It would be an honor. But at the same time it’ll take me trying out for the team and Coach K and this coaching staff along with Thibs would pick the players and allow me to play for them. So, if I have the opportunity to play for them, I will, but it’s just going to take me trying out for the team.”

The USA team often beats other countries because of their physicality and athleticism, but adding some stellar guard play from a player like Rose would really take the team to the next level.

Whether or not he joins Team USA remains to be seen, but it could be a smart move for Coach K and company.
