Niklas Kronwall stretchered off ice after cheap shot from Cody McLeod (Video)

There is no doubt that hockey is a brutal sports and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall was on the wrong end of a vicious hit on Thursday night after taking a cheap shot from Cody McLeod of the Colorado Avalanche.

Kronwall was chasing down a puck deep in the zone, when McLeod sized him up for the big hit and delivered an elbow right to the side of his head which sent him immediately to the ice.

You will hear plenty of people talking about the hit, so be sure to check out the video below:

There is no place in the game for hits like this and Kronwall will now need to undergo medical evaluation for a concussion. He was taken off of the ice on a stretcher in a very scary scene, so you can imagine that the official diagnosis will not be good.

What do you think should happen to McLeod for his cheap shot? Sound off in the comments section below.
