Oregon CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu hoping to make big plays against WSU

The Oregon secondary should be licking their collective chops at the opportunity to play the Washington State Cougars this weekend. Although the Cougars run Mike Leach’s vaunted Air Raid offense, quarterback Connor Halliday is a turnover machine. Through the first seven games of the 2013 season, Halliday has thrown almost as many interceptions (13) as touchdowns (14), which means Oregon defenders like Ifo Ekpre-Olomu should have plenty of chances to force turnovers on Saturday.

Here’s what Ekpre-Olomu had to say about taking on Washington State:

The secondary is going to have a lot of opportunities to make big plays. If we have a great pass rush and good coverage in the secondary we’ll be able to make a lot of plays but if we’re only doing one of those, Halliday is good enough to make us pay (Oregon Live).

While it would be silly to overlook any team that can pass as well was WSU can, it’s hard to imagine the Oregon defense not getting to Halliday and forcing him to throw the ball under duress.

Coverage of the game between the Ducks and the Cougars will start at 7:00 p.m. PT on Fox Sports 1.
