Poet Justin Lamb has strong feelings about the New Orleans Pelicans (video)

You wouldn’t normally think the world of sports and the world of slam poetry have a lot in common. One involves obnoxious fans who spend their miserable lives cheering at events that, despite the insufferable and inescapable aura of being capital-i Important, are actually colossal wastes of time, energy, and brain-power for all involved. The other involves poetry.

Jesting aside, you should really watch the video embedded below if you’re a fan of the New Orleans Pelicans. Hell, you should watch it regardless of being a fan since you’ve already clicked on this post and all. The performer of the piece is Justin Lamb, who placed third at the 2013 Texas Grand Slam. The clip comes courtesy of the folks at Button Poetry, a group you may remember from viral videos like this. Next time your buddy teases you about liking a team with such a silly name, show him this video to shut him up.
