St. Louis Cardinals’ Allen Craig to take live batting practice

With the St. Louis Cardinals returning home just a victory away from their second World Series appearance in three seasons, they’re hoping RBI machine Allen Craig will be able to return to the lineup if they advance to the Fall Classic.

The Cardinals of course aren’t looking past the resilient Dodgers who avoided elimination in Game 5 of the NLCS, though needing to get Craig back in game form, he is scheduled to take batting practice with the team during workouts today.

Per Derrick Goold:

Interesting comment from Matheny: Craig will face Jaime Garcia tomorrow at the ballpark in live BP. #nlcs#cardinals#stlcards

Craig, who has been out since early September with a Lisfranc injury oddly faced the above mentioned Garcia, who is rehabbing his own injury.

If St. Louis does advance, while not a lock, it’s expected that Craig will be named to the roster as at minimum, he’ll be able to be used in the American League park as the designated hitter.
