Could Chase Headley be heading to the New York Yankees?

It’s pretty obvious the New York Yankees are going to be looking for a fill in third baseman, or possibly a permanent replacement for Alex Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is currently facing a possible full season suspension from baseball, the Yankees need to find someone to come in and take his spot. I honestly don’t see Rodriguez beating this suspension so it would be smart if the Yankees picked up their phone and called the San Diego Padres and ask what they want for Headley.

Headley right now would be their best option at third base. I believe he was a possible trade candidate earlier in the year and the Yankees were supposedly interested in him.

This season with the Padres Headley hit .250/.347/.400 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI’s through 520 at bats. In his previous season he hit a career high 31 home runs and 115 RBI’s with a batting line of .286/.376/.498.

The team knows the power is there and it’s pretty obvious the defense is too. San Diego finished fourth in the National League West, two games ahead of the last place Colorado Rockies.

Headley had a fielding percentage of .968 with 83 put outs.

New York has a lot of promising prospects in their farm system that they could deal to the Padres for Headle

Problem is the Skankees have no talent…or low talented minor leaguers in their system. This is not the system they used to have. Pretty much baron of top notch talent. Padres will want a boatload of prospects and the Skankees have little to offer.

Every prospect is a promising player. That’s why they’re still with a major league organization. Yeah they may not be a Top 100 prospect, but teams always find someone who catches their eye. That’s the beautiful thing about this sport. Remember, they also have some money they could also throw at San Diego to land Headley.
