The Cleveland Browns made several roster moves today that included releasing former Baltimore Ravens running back Bobby Rainey.

Rainey hasn’t been very effective this season after the organization decided to trade away former first round pick Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts. With Willis McGahee slowly getting things back together, there really isn’t any need for Rainey to be in the rotation, so why have him take up roster space, right?

This season Rainey only picked up 34 yards rushing on 13 carries.  He’s eligible to return to the team, but will be placed on their practice squad if he does.

With Rainey out, the Cleveland Browns have placed safety Josh Aubrey on the season ending injured reserve list and brought up wide receiver Tori Gurley and defensive back Julian Posey from their practice squad.

Gurley could be Johnson’s replacement as we recently found out that the recently signed wide receiver also had a torn ACL. So Gurley could possibly see some time in Cleveland’s four wide receiver sets and help out on special teams while Posey could provide a little depth at defensive back.
