Although Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier plans to play in Game 6 of the NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals (at least, that was the plan as of yesterday), some concerning news has come across the wire in regards to his injury.
Ethier, who missed over a month of time prior to the start of the postseason with what was thought to be an ankle injury is reportedly a microfracture injury, this according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times:
Mattingly sounded more certain about the status of Andre Ethier, who has played the last three games with what appears to be a microfracture in his lower left leg.
Despite the potential microfracture injury, it’s still believed that Ethier will play this evening so apparently the team doesn’t feel he could further damage himself by taking the field.
There’s no word on the severity of the injury or if he’ll need offseason surgery to repair it or if he can simply rest and recover.
