As the Oakland Athletics look over their roster and decide who they’re going to keep, two players have  elected to test the free agency market.

Right handed relief pitcher Chris Resop who was out righted off the 40 man roster, was arbitration eligible for the final time this winter. The Athletics had no interest in giving him another contract as he posted an even six ERA and a 13/10 K/BB ratio through 18 innings pitched this season.

The next guy to elect free agency is left handed Japenese pitcher Hideki Okajima. Okajima returned to the Major Leagues this season after spending a season in Japan with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks after spending five seasons with the Boston Red Sox.

The 37 year old pitcher will be 38 on Christmas day and could possibly either return to Japan for the final years of his career or get picked up on a possible minor league deal. He appeared in only five games with the Athletics and pitched only four innings.

Through those four innings he allowed seven hits with one earned run being a home run and recorded a save. He posted a 2.25 ERA with one strike out and two batters walked.
