Nick Friedell of ESPN Chicago reported that “Hinrich is out for a couple days according to head coach Tom Thibodeau. This report was confirmed by Chicago Tribune writer K.C. Johnson, who tweeted “Thibodeau said Hinrich has concussion, will miss a few days.”
The injury, which occurred during Chicago’s preseason game on Friday, could cause Hinrich to miss at least a couple of games as he recovers.
“He’ll have to go through a series of tests, make sure he’s OK,” Thibodeau said. “He said he was feeling a lot better (Saturday).”
A Chicago Tribune report detailed the new policy the league has in place concerning returns from concussions, which includes passing a variety of tests prior to returning to action. Hinrich, like others, will have to pass such tests in coming days.
Hinrich was a valuable member of last year’s Bulls team, which lacked former MVP point guard Derrick Rose for the entire season. In his absence, Hinrich partnered with Nate Robinson, who has since left via free agency, tallying 7.7 points, 5.2 assists and 1.1 steals per contest last year.
