Carmleo Anthony does not expect Kobe Bryant to recruit him to play for Lakers

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony just can’t get away from the free agent rumors, this after opening his mouth and suggesting he wanted to test the market.

One such team who’s been rumored to have interest in Anthony, assuming he does hit the open market, would be the Los Angeles Lakers. If they do show interest come the 2014 offseason, Anthony doesn’t believe Kobe Bryant will attempt to lure him to Hollywood as he recently told Adam Zagoria:

Carmelo Anthony says he doesn’t expect his friend Kobe Bryant to recruit him to come play for the Lakers.

“No, I think Kobe respects me as a ballplayer, as a person, as a friend, so I don’t think none of them phone calls will be coming next,” Anthony said Friday after practice.

Of course, Bryant isn’t technically supposed to speak to Anthony at any point about playing with him or the Lakers but we all know how that stopped the Miami Heat from hatching a plan.
