The UFC 166 main event between heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and former champ Junior dos Santos could be for much more than just the belt. According to UFC president Dana White, the winner of the trilogy fight will go down as the best heavyweight in the history of the sport.
White was asked prior to the pay-per view tonight if this bout had historical implications and he answered, “Yeah I do. I think these two right here are the best two heavyweights in the world. They’re in their prime and yeah. This is a great fight. I’ve been really excited about this fight.”
Dos Santos scored a quick knockout win in the first fight between the two, while Velasquez was able to dominate dos Santos in the second match up on way to a unanimous decision victory and the reclaiming of his title.
When the two men enter the cage tonight, one will walk away with the advantage in the trilogy, the belt and the honor of being called the greatest heavyweight in the world.
