The New Jersey Devils are winless no longer, thanks to a 4-0 win over the New York Rangers.
According to the Associated Press,
Cory Schneider made 22 saves for his first shutout with New Jersey, and the Devils become the last NHL team to win a game this season, posting a 4-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.
Andrei Loktionov, Adam Henrique, Michael Ryder and Dainius Zubrus scored for the Devils (1-4-3), who ended their worst start to a season with a laugher against the injury-depleted Rangers. New York (2-5) has only two wins on its season-opening, nine-game road trip.
Jaromir Jagr and Marek Zidlicky added two assists apiece as New Jersey took some of the mounting pressure off coach Pete DeBoer by matching its season high for goals.
Henrik Lundqvist made 15 saves for the Rangers.
The Devils will look to improve their winning streak to two games when they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, October 22. The Rangers will face off against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, Oct 24.
The Rangers currently have a record of 2-5-0, good enough for 6th in the Metropolitan division, while the Devils have a 1-4-3 record, which puts them one place ahead of the Rangers in 5th place.
