Maryland WR Deon Long carted off the field against Wake Forest

The Maryland Terrapins may have to experience a big loss on the offensive side of the ball for quite some time as wide receiver Deon Long was carted off the field against Wake Forest earlier after he suffered a leg injury.

Long was in the process of blocking for running back Brandon Ross, when Demon Deacons linebacker Teddy Matthews rolled on the back of his leg and Long hit the ground, writhing in pain before the cart came to get him.

Prior to the injury, Long had four catches for 43 yards in the game.

This would be a big loss for Maryland as Long has been a nice complement to the electric Stefon Diggs in the receiving corps. This was a dimension that the Terps’ offense was missing last season, and they were able to add that when Long transferred in from the JUCO ranks for this season.

We’ll have more on the injury and Long’s prognosis as it develops.
