It’s another Saturday, which usually means we can kick back after a full day of college football action with some comedy thanks to the cast and crew of Saturday Night Live, but that won’t be the case tonight. Today, Saturday, October 19, there will be no new episode of Saturday Night Live. Instead, NBC will re-air the season 39 premiere with Tina Fey and Arcade Fire.
But why isn’t Saturday Night Live on?
With a prime time match up between the USC Trojans and Notre Dame Fighting Irish airing live in prime time on NBC, they had to play it safe and avoid the risk that the football game could run over the allotted time slot and push back SNL.
The good news is that the season premiere of SNL was a pretty good episode, so here is your chance to re-watch the skits or check it out for the first time.
As for when the show returns with new episodes, you can check out NBC on Saturday, October 26, when Edward Norton serves as the guest host and Janelle Monae brings us the musical entertainment.
Even better for fans of the show is that the following week is supposed to be guest host Kerry Washington and the musical entertainment of none other than Eminem.
