In a game that has just gone final, the Tennessee Volunteers have upset the 11th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks at home 23-21 on a last-second field goal as time ran out. That was the first SEC victory for first-year head coach Butch Jones.
The Volunteers, to pull off this upset, needed huge performances from everyone, and they knew that coming in. QB Justin Worley played one of the better games of his short career so far, the Tennessee defense played admirably and they were ultimately able to send South Carolina back home with their second loss of the season.
But, the best performance undoubtedly came from true freshman WR Marquez North who has continually showed us all how special of a talent on the outside he really is, but he really showcased it down the stretch in this upset victory today.
With two minutes to go and driving to win the game, which they eventually did, Worley dropped back and launched a 39-yard pass in the direction of North, who would come down with the pass to keep the drive alive with possibly the best catch of 2013 so far:
