The FOX Sports 1 preliminary card for UFC 166 was loaded with exciting fights, but the one bout that had caught everyone’s eye was the welterweight match up between Nate Marquardt and Hector Lombard.
It didn’t take long for the two men to exchange some heavy blows, but there was one man who got the better of the shots.
Lombard connected with a hard right that wobbled Marquardt and had him retreating, but Lombard followed up with some additional hard shots that dropped Marquardt to the mat and immediately knocked him unconscious. For good measure, Lombard added a few extra shots to a knocked out Marquardt.
Lombard had his hand raised in victory after the dominating knockout, which came at just 1:48 of the very first round.
This is exactly the type of fighter that we all expected to see when Lombard joined the UFC, but it looks like he needed a move to welterweight to finally bring us the devastating fighter we all wanted to see.
