Upset Alert: Iowa leads Ohio State 17-10 at the half

Don’t pull them out just yet, but make sure you have your jokes about Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz receiving a contract extension on hand and ready for use, as the Hawkeyes are leading the fourth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on the road in Columbus, 17-10.

Iowa jumped out to a lead early with a two-yard touchdown pass from QB Jake Rudock to C.J. Fiedorowicz with about nine minutes to go in the first quarter. Rudock in the game is 14-of-22 for 121 yards and two scores total. The second touchdown was to Kevonte Martin-Manley with about seven minutes to go in the half to give the Hawkeyes the lead.

The Ohio State defense is struggling, as they’ve given up 222 total yards to an Iowa offense that isn’t exactly going to be mistaken for the Oregon Ducks, let’s just put it that way.

QB Braxton Miller has been good for the Buckeyes’ offense so far with 110 yards and a touchdown, a 58-yard strike to Philly Brown in the second quarter.

But, if the Ohio State defense can’t find an answer for Iowa on offense, then we may be in for another top-10 team taking a fall, in addition to Louisville last night.
