The South Carolina Gamecocks are on upset alert. The No. 11 Gamecocks are on the road against the unranked Tennessee Volunteers, and going on the road to get a win is not an easy task in the SEC. But you could say that it isn’t even close really. Tennessee is currently leading by a score of 17-7 at half time.’
South Carolina scored first with a field goal just short of mid-way through the first quarter and held that three-point lead for the entire first quarter. Just as the second quarter got under way, South Carolina scored a touchdown to pull ahead. It was a 76-yard touchdown pass from Connor Shaw to Damiere Byrd.
Then the Volunteers turned it on. They marched down the field on the next possession to score on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Justin Worley to Alton Howard. After the Volunteers defense held the South Carolina offense to a three and out, they were on the move again on their next possession.
This drive was a 7 play, 61-yard drive. It was finished off by a 5-yard touchdown run from Rajion Neal for a touchdown. Those 14 unanswered points from Tennessee ended the scoring for the half.
Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley has completed 11 of 17 passes for only 57 yards and a touchdown. The Vols have rushed for 104 yards though.
