Upset Alert: Texas Tech tied with West Virginia at half-time

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have had a great season under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury. In his first season, he has them out to a 6-0 start and a No. 14 ranking mid-season.

That ranking and undefeated record is in jeopardy today. The Red Raiders are in Morgantown taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers and are currently tied at 13 points each at half-time.

Texas Tech got out to a quick start in this game. At the end of the first quarter they were leading 10-0. On their first drive of the game they scored on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Davis Webb to Jace Amaro. They tacked on a field goal on their next possession.

On their opening possession of the second quarter they scored another field goal to take an early 13-0 lead. West Virginia battled back though. On the possession following the last Tech field goal, WVU marched down the field and got three-points of their own.

Tech drove down the field all the way to the WVU 13 yard line, but fumbled the ball. WVU took advantage of the turn over driving 99-yards down the field to score a touchdown on a 38 yard run from Dreamius Smith.

On the kick-off following that score, Tech fumbled again. That gave WVU the ball on Tech’s 17 yard line with less than 2 minutes in the half. They tried to take time off the clock with three runs, couldn’t get a first down and settled for the game tying field goal.

This could be an interesting second half.
