Jack Campbell has been considered the goalie of the future for the Dallas Stars since they drafted him with the 11th overall selection in the 2011 NHL draft. His development has certainly seen some ups and downs, but there’s no question that he’s currently one of the top young netminders in the game.
He could very well get the chance to prove it tonight as the Stars take on the Anaheim Ducks.
No Kari Lehton tonight. Lindy Ruff wouldn’t say, but the guess is Jack Campbell vs Ducks.

By ‘Lehton”, Heika meant Kari Lehtonen, who has been considered day-to-day for the better part of a week now. Dan Ellis has played well in his absence, but it’s unlikely that Dallas wants to lean on him in back-to-back games. He was the starter last night as Dallas got walloped by the Los Angeles Kings 5-2.
The signs are pointing to Campbell making his long-awaited NHL debut against the Ducks then.
Talk about trial by fire.
The Ducks are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now, and feature several forwards that like to crash the crease and make life difficult on opposing goalies. Anaheim hasn’t lost since the first game of the regular season, winning six consecutive games as they gear up for Dallas.
That’s a tough draw for Campbell, who was facing AHL competition all of ten days ago. Still, he was going to have to face some stiff competition sooner or later, and this is his chance to show the league what all the hoopla has been about over the last few years regarding his abilities as a goalie.
