St. Louis Cardinals expected to add Allen Craig to World Series roster

The St. Louis Cardinals haven’t exactly kept the status of first baseman Allen Craig a secret, parading him around during batting practice suggesting that if the team made the World Series he would likely be able to participate.

The Cardinals did indeed make the Fall Classic and Craig is expected to be added to the roster, this according to the St. Louis Dispatch:

The Cardinals expect him to be at least an option off the bench during the games at Busch Stadium. How much he can tolerate on a foot that six weeks ago sustained ligament damage will determine his role.

Craig took swings during a simulated game on Friday and reportedly looked pretty solid, so there’s little reason to leave him off the roster given the need for a designated hitter. Craig, at least as of right now, is not expected to be a starter in any of the games in St. Louis, though, will start every game at Fenway Park in the series.
