Senior quarterback B.J. Denker has shown improvement throughout the season in his first year as the starter for the Arizona Wildcats. Denker struggled mightily in Arizona’s 31-13 loss to the Washington Huskies at the end of September, but he has turned in two strong performances since that game, earning him praise from head coach Rich Rodriguez:
In the second half of the USC game, I saw his confidence grow. I saw it all week (leading up to Utah), probably for the first time to the level we expected it from our starting quarterback. He’s telling us what to see, he’s telling wide receivers their adjustments, he’s got confidence.
B.J. is a sharp guy. You can’t forget this is just his seventh game that he’s played in (Arizona Daily Star).
In his first three-and-a-half games of the season, Denker completed 61 of his 111 passes for 654 yards, but he’s completed 30 of his 53 passes for 322 yards since halftime of the USC game.
The Wildcats will be on the road this weekend to take on the Colorado Buffaloes.
