Although Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson reportedly suffered a setback during the past week, that won’t stop him from practicing as head coach Mike Smith said he expects Jackson to be on the practice field this week:

"Coach Smith: We anticipate that Steven Jackson will be participating in practice on Wednesday. #RiseUp"

It’s a pretty big development for Jackson, who hasn’t practiced at all since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2 of the season.

Reports on Sunday morning hinted that Jackson would continue to be out of action through at least Week 8, though after Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling were completely destroyed on the ground in Week 7, the Falcons felt they may have no other choice than to get Jackson back in action.

There’s no word on if Jackson will take the field this weekend as that determination will likely come as a result of how his practices go this week, but it’s certainly a good sign for the Falcons that he’s likely nearing a return.
