Auburn Tigers defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson revealed on Sunday that safety Josh Holsey will be out for the season after suffering a knee injury during practice on Thursday. Holsey did not play in Auburn’s 45-41 upset of the Texas A&M Aggies, but his replacement, Ryan White, record five tackles and an interception.
Johnson spoke about the nature of Holsey’s injury over the weekend:
It’s definitely one where the number of weeks, even if they don’t have to do any surgery, it would take to rest and rehab it, we’d be past the end of the year. He and the receiver kind of tripped over each other and rolled up. The practice film isn’t clear enough at the angle it was taken to see how he hurt it. It looked like he jammed it, hyper extended it and then it rolled up (Columbus Ledger-Enquirer).
We certainly wish Holsey the best in his recovery. The No. 24 Auburn Tigers will take on the Florida Atlantic Owls this upcoming Saturday.
