The Houston Texans started Case Keenum at quarterback after injuries to Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates. The Texans were in a position to win the game and Keenum played well in his debut. He completed 15 of 25 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown.

“Obviously, Matt’s our starting quarterback,” head coach Gary Kubiak said, via NFL.com. “Case went in and played extremely well. I’m going to sit down, we’re on a bye week, (and) I’m going to evaluate where we’re at as a team and move forward from there.”

Houston Chronicle reporter John McClain interpreted that to mean that Case Keenum will start after the bye week.

The Texans players responded well to Keenum according to Kubiak.

“Players responded well to Case. they were very confident with him, and it came from the week of practice,” Kubiak said. “Matt and TJ did a good job helping prepare Case to get ready to play.”

We found a little heartbeat today,” Kubiak said after Sunday’s game. “I thought we came in here and played the type of game we had to play if you’re going to come in here and win.”
