Those hoping to hear Oklahoma State Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy name a starting quarterback this week will be disappointed to learn that Gundy has said he won’t decide between Clint Chelf and J.W. Walsh until the Cowboys take on Iowa State this upcoming Saturday. Both Chelf and Walsh played against TCU and have split time in the Oklahoma State backfield this year.
We wouldn’t publicly name one. We’ll let those guys practice and then we’ll see how it goes this week and then decide how we want to approach Iowa State (The Daily Oklahoman).
Gundy went on to say that he won’t change up the practice routine this week:
We’re not gonna change our reps. They split reps. They have for quite a while, so we don’t have to change any of that. We’ll just evaluate them during the week and then how we feel like our matchups are against Iowa State and just move forward from there.
Walsh has thrown for 1,324 yards and nine touchdowns this year, while Chelf has thrown for 471 yards and three TDs. Neither has completed more than 60% of their passes.
