Running back Venric Mark out again for Northwestern

Running back Venric Mark was a huge threat for the Northwestern Wildcats last season, accumulating 2,166 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns. But the 5-foot-8 senior from Tomball, Texas, has been plagued by injuries in 2013 and has only gained 183 all-purpose yards on the season. Having missed this past Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, a game the Wildcats lost 20-17, Mark has again been ruled out for Northwestern’s upcoming contest against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Even though Mark went down with an injury in the first game of the season, a 44-30 win over Cal, the Wildcats were still able to string together four wins to start the year. They lost their prime time game against the Ohio State Buckeyes, though, and have dropped two more since then. Mark returned for the OSU game and had 103 all-purpose yards, but was hurt the next week against the Wisconsin Badgers.

We wish Mark the best in his recovery and hope he can be on the field again soon.
