It’s hard to imagine Serena Williams putting together a year better than the one she’s having in 2013, but that’s exactly what the tennis star warned she could do when she spoke with reporters at the WTA Championships on Monday. Williams, the top-ranked player in the world, has won ten tournaments this year, including the French Open and U.S. Open, and she’s lost a mere four times in 73 games.
Still, Williams thinks she can perform even better:
It’s definitely one of the best years I have had… I’m still looking to improve and… I have a lot of room for improvement.
I’m so excited for next year just to take my game to a new level. It’s just been a great opportunity for me to continue to play, so I never thought I would have one of my best years this year but I always just try to keep doing better (Reuters).
At the 2013 WTA Championships, Williams is in a group with Agnieszka Radwanska, Petra Kvitova, and Angelique Kerber. If she advances to the finals, she will likely face Victoria Azarenka, who has beaten Williams twice this year.
