Bobby Bowden is one of college football’s great legends and will return to the field in ceremonious fashion on Saturday when Florida State hosts NC State at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Bowden will plant the spear again, this time as an FSU booster as opposed to when he did it as a coach in his final game in the Gator Bowl in 2009. Apparently, nearly 400 former players will be in attendance for the game to celebrate Bowden’s return to the field.
Legacy linebacker Christian Jones, who’s father and brother played under Bowden said “It’s going to be awesome. He built this team up, so it’ll be awesome seeing him on the field.”
Many players have grown up dreaming about playing for the ‘Noles because of Bowden, now the ones that are there will get to see Bowden actually on the field. Those boos that reigned down on FSU when Bowden was in the process of being ushered out, will be a full roar of cheers Saturday as the fans recognize the dynasty that they enjoyed for so long was due to Bowden’s leadership.
Bobby Bowden is the winningnest head coach in college football history. It should be fun.

*Editors note: I could be the only one who hasn’t recognized this, but what an irony that Bowden’s last game before officially being fired was in the “Gator” Bowl. Just something I never really noticed.
