FSU using last year's loss to North Carolina State as motivation

The Florida State Seminoles were the No. 3 team in the country when they took on the North Carolina State Wolfpack last season. The Wolfpack were not intimidated, however, and pulled off the 17-16 upset thanks to a touchdown pass with only 16 seconds remaining.

Will the same thing happen when the two teams meet this year? The Seminoles certainly hope not, and head coach Jimbo Fisher has been reminding the team of the pain felt last season:

Feel that pain. Pain is preparation. You want that pain again? Don’t prepare. You want to eliminate that pain? Prepare and take care of your business (ESPN).

A similar sentiment was echoed by defensive end Christian Jones:

We actually started talking about it as soon as we got done with the Clemson game. We felt horrible after that game last year. … That kind of sticks with us even throughout this season. It motivates us a lot. … We don’t want to feel like we did last year in the locker room.

The two teams will play this upcoming Saturday at 3:30 p.m ET on ABC/ESPN2. The Seminoles will be heavily favored, but if last year’s game proved anything, it’s that you shouldn’t count out the Wolfpack.
